Review Policy

I'm new to this, but everything I read about book blogging said to create a policy page for people wanting to request book reviews, so here goes!

General Information

I am accepting review requests for anything classified as Young Adult in print ARCs and finished copies, and reviews for select Adult fiction. I also welcome reviews from indie presses.

I am not accepting review requests for ebooks, audiobooks, interactive media books, or self-published books at this time.

I am currently accepting review requests in Young Adult and Adult fiction in pretty much any genre, but here's what a prefer to read:

  • Fantasy
  • Realistic fiction
  • Dystopia
  • LGBTQ/gender related fiction
  • Horror/Supernatural
  • Myth/fairytale retellings
  • Some mystery
  • Graphic novels/comics

There are the things that I know a little less about, and might not necessarily feel comfortable reviewing:
  • Poetry
  • Free-verse novels
  • Overly religious books
  • Most non-fiction, depending on the topic*

*This varies. If it's a topic I'm knowledgable on, I'd be happy to review it! Otherwise, I wouldn't feel comfortable commenting on something I don't know a lot about.

I will write a review for almost every book I finish, and my reviews will also be posted on my Goodreads account.

All of my reviews are my honest opinion, but even if I absolutely don't like a book, I will try to find something positive (a habit from my creative writing workshop classes, maybe?). Reviews also include the book cover and a quote from the book itself, and will be posted as close to the release date as possible.

I use a star system to rate my books, similar to the system on Goodreads. The system is as follows:

1 star: Could not get into the story at all
2 stars: Okay, just not something up my alley
3 stars: Mediocre, there were aspects that definitely could have made it better
4 stars: Really good, would definitely recommend
5 stars: Fantastic, excellent, would recommend and read it again!

Half star ratings are also sometimes used, when a book almost makes to a level, but not quite.

I will not be currently hosting giveaways at this time, but this could change in the future!

Guest Posts and Author Interviews

I am happy to host posts and interviews from authors! Generally, I'd prefer if guest posts were original content that has not been featured on another blog.

If you would like to be featured, please email me with the following information:

  • Your name and the name of your book
  • Description of your book, or a link to it on Goodreads
  • Whether you would like a guest post or an author interview
  • If you would like an interview, would you like to provide the topic/questions or would you like me to provide them?
  • The month/date you would like to be featured
  • If you would like to include a giveaway

If I have not read your book yet and I am coming up with the guest post topic or questions, I will require a copy of the book and 2-3 months advance notice. However, I am flexible, so I'm sure we can work something out!

Requests to Host Me on Your Blog

I would be happy to! Just make sure to give me about a month's notice, in order to get the book, read it, etc.

Thanks for reading, and please send all review requests to:
